“Fun, team-building, hard work, humbling, engaging, moving, inspiring. These are just some of the words my teammates and I came up with to describe the amazing experience we had playing sled hockey with Hope Inc. We are longtime supporters of all of the great work Hope Inc. does throughout our community to create great activities for kids and adults with mobility challenges, so we jumped at the chance to bring awareness to their mission and be a part of their sled hockey experience. Although some of us at WDAY had reservations about our sled hockey skills, HOPE Inc. made all of us feel like superstar athletes and every one of us had an incredible and memorable time. There was lots of teamwork, lots of tipping over and lots of laughs. It was a really unique way for co-workers to get to know each other outside of the office and have a lot of fun in the process. We left with a few sore muscles and definitely a new found respect for the athletes who do this competitively. They make what we tried to do look easy and they are talented. We can’t wait to be part of this great event again!”
What are professionals in our community saying about us?
“We’ve done a lot of fun public events… but of all of them, sled hockey is hands-down, by far the one that’s gotten the most positive feedback from my colleagues here at KVRR. It’s a great way for everyone at work to get out past your comfort zone and bond over a new experience. Even the experienced hockey players among us were impressed by the level of strength, skill and coordination it takes to maneuver those sleds. It doesn’t just let you have fun, it connects you with your co-workers and get in a great workout! Most importantly, it opens your eyes to the self-discipline, grit and grace athletes who live with disabilities have.”

“What an honor it was to be asked to be on KFGO’s sled hockey team to help raise awareness and funds for HOPE Inc. HOPE Inc. is such an amazing charity that does so much to help those in our community with mobility challenges. Playing sled hockey was fun and challenging, and a great team-building experience. We had to learn to work together as a team, using all your energy and muscles to propel yourself across the ice, concentrating on staying upright. Although our struggles on the ice were brief, you realize that for some people, even doing the simplest of things can be a struggle and challenge every day. Thank you HOPE Inc. for giving me this amazing opportunity!”

“Hockey For Hope is a wonderful annual event that the DMF team looks forward to all year. While we are far from the most talented players on the ice we may be the ones that have the most fun! Participating in Hockey for Hope gives us a chance to team-build and just have fun together outside of the office. Thanks for the opportunity!”
